Description of Holy Well and Landscape Setting
This holy well is remembered by locals to have once stood in a large field low to the ground. The area is off the R482 between a housing estate and caravan park. No trace of the holy well now exists.
Saint and Feast Day Associated with Holy Well
The well name suggests that it is dedicated to Muiris or Maurice. This is not a typical saint’s name and there is little information available to help determine the origins of this saint.
Natural Heritage around the Holy Well
The well is indicated as lying in rough grassland a few hundred metres east of the local caravan park. The area is close to the sea so there is not much tree growth.
