Description of Holy Well and Landscape Setting

The well is located on private land, removed from local activity. The well has a dry stone lining and the water source seems to have dried up. The old Carntemple Church, possibly founded by Saint Breckan, patron saint of the parish, lies in this area.

Saint and Feast Day Associated with Holy Well

This well is dedicated to Saint Dodhrán, sometimes referred to as Saint Odhrán by locals. Dodhrán is not well known, though he is associated with other churches and wells in the area. Breckan is perhaps the better known saint and the parish church is dedicated to him.

Natural Heritage around the Holy Well

Low bushes and some small alders and blackthorns grow in the area around the well.
