Description of Holy Well and Landscape Setting

This holy well stand inside a circular wall beside the local graveyard. The well was significantly renovated in recent years and is in excellent condition. It is clear that it is still held in affection by the local community.

Tobermurry or Tobar Muire is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The feast day associated with the well is 15th August.  Devotion at this well in August may be overshadowed by the large congregations who visit another Our Lady’s Well nearby at Drumellihy.

‘There is another Holy Well in the Townland of Kil-Mac-A-Dubhain dedicated to the Virgin Mary, at which Stations still continue to be performed.’
